BURGER KUKUS JALAN REJANG

The menu

"History Time"

The Burger Kukus Jalan Rejang is actually a franchise business. It is named after the first stall that operates at Jalan Rejang, Taman Setapak Jaya. The end.

"Mouth Watering Burger"

The main thing of the whole burger preparing process is the timing. Without the correct timing, you'll either served with a soggy burger kukus or a hard dry burger kukus.

This is the look of the arrangement of cooking utensils. I bet all the franchises have the same arrangement. Now I'm going to explain to you how it works.

The cooking utensils

1. Place your order.
2. The cook will steam the patty and the buns in no. 3.
3. Then you wait.
4. The cook will grill the buns at no. 2 before the patty since the patty needed some time to be soften.
5. Then the cook will add some salads and onion onto the bun at no. 1 while grilling the patty.
6. The grilled patty is then dip into the thick handmade BBQ sauce.
7. Lastly, the cook will add some mayonnaise and chili sauces onto the patty.
8. Prepare the cash and ready to savour the delicious burger.

"Nothing is Impossible"

Though you may think that oblong is too much for your dinner or supper but on your surprise you might order another one upon finishing.

There are few menus that I would strongly recommend which is the burger lembu supreme and oblong kambing (The price is shown above).

  • Service : 7/10

Tonkatsu (とんかつ)

Been busy and hasting throughout the weekdays?

Why not treat yourself a little more better in this lovely day?

Where to head to?

Tonkatsu @ Pavillion

* P.S. is a Non- halal restaurant.

Tonkatsu

Well, とんかつ (tonkatsu) actually means that "pork chop" where "ton" = pork and "katsu" = cutlet. Even though is named so but there is still other choices like chicken katsu, soba and etc.

The Menu

Unlike other Japanese restaurant, they didn't served sushi. Instead of serving sushi, they are famous with their katsu (deep-fry cutlet). But wait... ( Continue after "First Thing You Must Do")

"First Thing You Must Do"

After you placed your order, since you gotta wait for your food to served, you can actually make your own sesame paste. The materials and ingredients are ready on the table,

The materials and ingredients

So let's move on to the preparation part. The tutorial is as shown below.
The steps of preparing sesame paste

Is an interesting and memorable experience as when you grind the sesame, you can smell the fragrant of sesame. Till the moment you satisfied with your grinned sesame, you just needed to add in the Japanese Worcestershire sauce to complete your sesame paste.

(Let's resume) This sesame paste is actually the dipping sauce of the katsu. It add on some sweet taste with fragrant sesame smell on the deep-fry crispy katsu.

For the set of katsu, it is served with some sliced cabbage, a bowl of miso soup, a piece of toufu, eggplant pickles and a bowl of rice. But wait... ( Continue after "Second Thing To Do")

"Second Thing To Do"

When your set is served, you can actually add on some flavored oil on your sliced cabbage to enhance the taste of the cabbage. Besides, the cabbage is refillable.

Add flavoured oil onto cabbage

(Back to katsu) I strongly recommend this dish, Buta Shogayaki Zen because it is something that you'll never try in other restaurant. It is actually fry kimchi with sliced pork. Is not as weird like it sounded, instead it is delicious. With some spicy and salty of kimchi and the pan saute belly, you'll enjoy this dish to the max.

Buta Shogayaki Zen set
*RM 26

The next dish is Rosu Katsu Zen. I personally don't really like it because the sliced katsu got a bit hard due to the bread crumbs. Anyway, overall it still taste marvelous.

Rosu Katsu Zen
*RM 27

To all the prawn lovers, Hire katsu + Ebi Furai Zen is meant for you!

A layer of bread crumbs is coated on the prawn which add on the crispy taste to the crunchy and fresh prawn. Complement with the other side dishes, this set is irresistible.

Hire Katsu + Ebi Furai Zen
*RM 29

For those who doesn't like spicy food yet dying to lunch at this restaurant, Hire Katsu Zen might be your choice. It is alike with buta shogayaki but without the kimchi taste.

*RM 29

This is the Katsu Soba that I ordered. There is a half piece of hard-boiled egg, some vege and bamboo shoots come along with the soba, slices of katsu that served on rack and some chilies powdered in case you want you soba soup to be spicy. I considered it as a enormous set because the bowl of soba is very big but yet very nice. For me, the soup id not too sweet, not too salty, just fall at the right place.

SS2 Nasi Lemak Maybank

Thinking of what to eat for dinner but yet the budget are tight?

Let's walk down to the streets at Petaling Jaya's Seapark (SS21/11B), next to Maybank
you will definitely see the crowds, craving for

Nasi Lemak MAYBANK

a.k.a Bumbung's Nasi Lemak / Nasi Lemak Babi

*P.S. is a Halal stall

The nasi lemak served here comes in two forms with a piece deep-fried chicken (nasi lemak ayam) and without (nasi lemak biasa) but trust me, you gotta try out the nasi lemak ayam. As usual, the nasi lemak sits on banana leaf and are comprised of fragrant coconut milk rice, anchovies (ikan bilis), fried peanuts, sweet with a little bit spicy sambal and a sunny side up (telur mata kerbau). What makes the nasi lemak amazing is the piece of deep-fried chicken. With the deep fry crunchy skin and juicy marinated meat, you just can't resist but having one bite followed by another.

Nasi Lemak Maybank
The nasi lemak here served in various form. So, don't get surprise!
It only cost RM 4.50 for this savoury dish.

Besides the famous nasi lemak, the other dishes are worth to try to. I personally like maggi mee goreng (RM 3.50) served here. Is not like the dry maggi mee goreng served in other mamak. Add on with a sunny side up, thumbs up for this delicious dish.

Maggi Mee Goreng
The delicious maggi mee goreng.
